WholeLife Authentic Care is more than a medical practice; it is the fulfillment of a vision —a journey marked by faith, resilience, and a profound commitment to life-affirming healthcare. Raised Catholic, Nicole valued natural approaches to health. When she and her husband got married, they relied on natural family planning with the Creighton Model FertilityCare System. As they charted her cycle, they started to see her path to motherhood would not be straightforward. Her charts revealed consistent signs of endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and low progesterone. Miscarriage seemed inevitable without intervention, but Nicole was determined to seek proactive, restorative treatment. 

In 2008, after much research and prayer, Nicole and her husband made the difficult decision to travel from Texas to Omaha, Nebraska, to see Dr. Thomas Hilgers, the founder of NaProTECHNOLOGY and the Pope Paul VI Institute. There, Dr. Hilgers performed surgery to treat her endometriosis, giving the couple renewed hope that they could start their family. Six months later, Nicole conceived their first child, Claire, and with the support of carefully prescribed progesterone supplements, she carried Claire to full term. It was truly an answer to prayer. 

However, two years later, the challenges resurfaced when Nicole was expecting their second child. Remembering the hormone support she had needed with Claire; she asked a local healthcare provider to check her progesterone levels early in the pregnancy. She was shocked and heartbroken when they refused, telling her they would “let her miscarry as a diagnostic tool” since she had never lost a pregnancy before. Despite five years of charted evidence indicating her low progesterone, they dismissed her concerns as irrelevant. Determined to find a different path, she connected with a midwife who shared her convictions and respected her concerns. The midwife helped coordinate blood tests through the Pope Paul VI Institute, where her levels showed critically low progesterone. Dr. Hilgers at the Institute responded immediately, prescribing progesterone injections that likely saved the life of her unborn child. This experience filled Nicole with both gratitude and a fierce determination that no woman in her community should have to face these barriers alone. 

With this conviction, Nicole knew that women in North Texas needed a different option—one that was both restorative and respectful of life. In partnership with her colleague Mandy Cox and with the blessing of the Bishop of Fort Worth, she founded WholeLife Authentic Care on September 23, 2014. Their vision was to create a healthcare model that honored the sanctity of life, empowered women, and addressed reproductive issues in a holistic way. Although Nicole did not have a medical background, she brought experience as a business executive, and she and Mandy were confident they could assemble a skilled, mission-driven team to bring their vision to life. 

Starting a nonprofit medical clinic from the ground up came with significant challenges, especially financial. Nicole and her team launched a fundraising campaign to secure $1.3 million in startup costs, and though it was daunting, their faith and passion kept them moving forward. In time, they attracted 900 potential patients who signed up through their website, confirming the deep need for WholeLife in the community. As word spread, the support base grew, validating their mission and further fueling their commitment. 

Finding a physical location for WholeLife became a journey in itself. Nicole and her team faced setback after setback, with promising properties falling through at the last minute, testing their patience and perseverance. Finally, after what felt like countless disappointments, their realtor showed them a former church building that was triple the size they had envisioned. Initially, it seemed impractical for their needs, but as Nicole, Mandy, and the donors stopped to pray, they sensed God calling them to think bigger. This space had the potential to house not just the clinic but an entire wellness community under one roof. 

With this inspiration, they transformed the building into what is now the Gianna Molla Center, named after St. Gianna Molla, the patron saint of mothers, physicians, and unborn children. The entire center is infused with the spirit of St. Gianna and St. Padre Pio, two saints who intercede in the healing and care of WholeLife's patients. 

After five years of demanding work, WholeLife Authentic Care officially opened its doors on November 5, 2019. From day one, the clinic has strived to offer holistic, pro-life OB/GYN services that reach women not only in Fort Worth but across Texas, thanks to telemedicine. As WholeLife grew, they brought on additional providers, allowing them to expand services to meet the needs of entire families. In 2024, WholeLife celebrated the addition of a full-time family medicine provider, enabling them to provide comprehensive care across the lifespan—from prenatal care and pediatric services to adult and senior health. Women who originally came for obstetric and gynecological care are now bringing their children and families, deepening WholeLife's bond with the community. 

WholeLife Authentic Care is more than a clinic; it is a mission to restore dignity, empower patients, and foster a culture of life in every stage of health. While WholeLife's Catholic identity is foundational, the clinic welcomes patients of all faiths who seek natural, restorative healthcare. By offering options grounded in faith and science, WholeLife has become a haven for those seeking alternatives to artificial hormones and invasive procedures, especially in reproductive health. 

Nicole and her team view patients like family and strive to provide the personalized, compassionate care they deserve. Every day, they are guided by the belief that life has inherent value, and the WholeLife team is committed to upholding that value through respectful, comprehensive care. St. Gianna and St. Padre Pio continue to inspire them to bring hope, healing, and faith to their work. 

As an independent nonprofit medical clinic,  WholeLife’s mission extends far beyond the fundraising we did to open our doors. We rely on the generosity of donors to provide the care we offer each year. Money raised is used to support the clinic, outreach efforts, and expansion of services. This funding allows WholeLife to deepen its impact in the community, ensuring it remains a place of healing, support, and respect for every life we serve. WholeLife is grateful for the unwavering support of donors and community members who stand alongside us in our commitment to life-affirming care for all. We are building a culture where dignified and life-affirming health care is not only available but the best option available.
